Last Saturday, I had the unique opportunity of photographing a surprise proposal for a sweet Atlanta couple. Talk about the perfect gift this holiday season. Jigar contacted me recently, explaining how he was planning to propose to his girlfriend, Nisha, and wanted a photographer present to capture the moment. I was more than happy to oblige because who doesn’t enjoy true love combined a wildly romantic gesture? Because I wanted to document such a special moment from all angles, I contacted a former student of mine, Tara, to help me photograph.

The day of, Tara and I met Jigar at the Ritz-Carlton Residences in Buckhead. Alongside Jigar’s sister and brother-in-law, we all arranged decor and candles and rose petals, setting the stage for the ideal proposal. Jigar’s and Nisha’s family arrived later that afternoon and hid on the second floor so they could catch a glimpse of the special moment. When Nisha arrived, she was certainly surprised. Jigar got down on one knee and proposed. She said yes and checked her response on the sign he had made. He said he wanted her answer in writing. Once their families arrived, we celebrated the newly engaged couple and took more photos. Following a gorgeous sunset, Tara and I shot a few photos of the couple before they headed to a surprise engagement party held at Nikolai’s Roof at the Hilton Atlanta.

Congratulations, Nisha and Jigar. We’re beyond happy we could be a part of your special day!
