Aliza + Daniel

Classic crooner Andy Williams sang it best; “It’s the most wonderful time of the year.” From gingerbread cookies to glistening white lights and hints of spruce to uncontrollable laughter of all ages, I adore everything about the holiday season. In fact, I could probably write a long list of even the most minor parts that make my heart smile. While I won’t bore you with the details, I do want to share one of my favorite aspects of the holidays, and that’s the outpouring of love. I still tear up over Hugh Grant’s opening monologue of Love Actually because like he said, “love actually is all around.” And not just during the holidays. No matter the season, it’s there. It’s present. And being a wedding and engagement photographer, I can attest to that.

Several weeks ago, I had the honor of photographing Aliza and Daniel’s early morning engagement shoot in beautiful Piedmont Park. Aliza, who grew up in Atlanta, had met Daniel while attending school in Florida. The newly engaged couple will tie the knot on June 23, 2019 at The Temple. For those who aren’t familiar, The Temple, “originally founded as the Hebrew Benevolent Congregation in 1867, was Atlanta’s first official Jewish institution.” This place of worship has a lot of rich history hidden beneath the walls. And to make these upcoming nuptials even more special, Aliza’s brother, who’s a rabbi, will perform the ceremony. My team and I are looking forward to this summer wedding.

Though I’ve photographed at Piedmont Park on numerous occasions, this scenic green space offers many unexpected sights and surprises. We were blessed with this particular shoot. Not only did we have brilliant rays of warm, golden sunlight, but also the backdrop was nothing short of magical. Typically, this time of year, most autumn foliage has fallen and remains scattered along sidewalks and in piles. While there was an abundance of orange and copper and gold sprinkled beneath our feet, several of the maples continued gleaming with the brightest colors late fall had left untouched. The best part about this engagement shoot happened towards the end when Daniel started kicking and tossing some of the fallen leaves around. These unexpected, yet colorful props were immediately incorporated into the shoot. It was so much fun.

We can’t wait to document Aliza and Daniel’s big day. Congratulations on your engagement!
