And just like that, we’ve reached December. What an amazing year it’s been for Atlanta Artistic Wedding Photography. We’ve captured so many beautiful couples’ big days and shared their stories of true love and unadulterated happiness. Though 2018 may be winding down, we still have more weddings to share.

On Saturday, Nov. 24, we had the wonderful opportunity to document Alison and Brett’s lovely autumn wedding at the gorgeous Payne-Corley House located in historic Duluth, Ga.—an emerging area just northeast of Atlanta. This sweet couple had first met in grade school, but had only reconnected 20 years later. How’s that for a love story!

In addition to working with such a kind couple as Alison and Brett, another aspect of this wedding I enjoyed was working with the venue. Being a wedding photographer, I often meet other industry professionals and vendors, who become life long friends. That can be said for the owners of the Payne-Corley House. Krista and Mike Ganley have been very kind to AAW and me through the years. Their immense talents and well-rounded knowledge makes for a perfect wedding event. And their staff is no exception. Everyone demonstrated the finest creativity mixed with hospitality.

The weather couldn’t have been more ideal, either, for Alison and Brett’s big day. Alison and her bridesmaids spent time reminiscing and getting ready in the private bridal suite, while Brett and his groomsmen enjoyed downtime at the venue’s groom house. The couple opted for a memorable first look, which was emotional and captured near the gazebo. We got very lucky with some of the nearby maple trees blossoming and showcasing their best and brightest fall foliage. Not to mention the Payne-Corley House was adorned in its holiday best. We also shot some more rustic photos by the railroad tracks running in front of the main house.

The ceremony was held indoors with a reception following. The stunning fall bouquets, boutonnières and all other various floral arrangements were designed and created by Abby’s at The Cottage—the Payne-Corley Houses’ exclusive florist—and the music was provided by Black Tie Events out of Norcross, Ga. Towards the middle of the reception, the couple and their guests lined up, and everybody belted the lyrics to Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.” All night, the dance floor remained packed. These wedding guests knew how to party.

One of the coolest, and sweetest, highlights of the night, though, was when Brett’s father asked to see a show of hands of how many had known the newlyweds for more than 15 years. Nearly everyone attending raised his or her hands. It was great to see such a large group of old friends.

There was lots of singing and dancing and good fun and entertainment all around. It was such a splendid evening in Duluth. Congratulations again, Alison and Brett!
